Australian Libertarian Society

Defending life, liberty and property

Home

The Australian Libertarian Society (ALS) is Australia’s central portal for information about the libertarian movement. Active since 2000, the ALS supports free-markets, individual liberty and the promotion of peaceful, voluntary interaction between people. The ALS is an inclusive organisation, which includes moderates, minarchists, anarchists, objectivists, classical liberals, Austrian economists and anybody else who believes in freedom.

Check the side bars for the latest commentary by some of Australia’s best libertarian bloggers.

l&s

The Centre for Independent Studies runs regular ‘Liberty & Society’ seminars for young Australians who are interested in the ideas of classical liberalism. If you’re young, libertarian and like discussing ideas, it is highly recommended. Click on the image for more details.

The ALS is also keen to promote the Kennard Freedom Prize, which is backed by the  Institute for Public Affairs. Prizes include a trip to America (FreedomFest) and to Turkey (Property & Freedom Society), $500 and the new Apple iPhone. The winners for 2009 have been announced (congrats to Luke McGrath & Reece Jones) and their essays are available if you click on the image.

The ALS was a co-sponsor for the 2nd and 3rd International Conference on Climate Change, hosted by the Heartland Institute. The ALS was represented at the conferences by John Humphreys (2nd conference: New York) and Tim Andrews (3rd conference: Washington DC). For details about the conferences, click on the image. (Note that the ALS does not support everything from the conference.)
