ALS blogs
These are the best dozen libertarian blogs in Australia, which are linked on the side-bars of the ALS website. They come from a variety of perspectives and most are not officially part of the ALS.
Thoughts on Freedom – The original blog of the ALS, ToF is a group blog edited by ALS Director John Humphreys, which includes occasional posts by Tex, Terje, Pommy, Jim, Fleeced, JC and others.
Anti-war libertarian — Another ALS blog, this “anti-war” site is run by ALS board member Sukrit Sabhlok and is primarily focused on promoting a non-interventionist foreign policy and exploring radical libertarianism.
Catallaxy Files – Australia’s biggest and oldest libertarian blog, catallaxy is run by Sydney-based economist Jason Soon and generally takes a moderate libertarian position. The blog is famous for it’s “robust” comment section.
Andrew Norton – Pitched as “Carlton’s only classical liberal”, Andrew previously wrote at Catallaxy but in 2006 he started his own blog. He is one of the more high-profile Liberal party members in libertarian circles and is also the editor of Policy magazine.
Skeptic Lawyer — Helen Dale originally wrote at both Catallaxy and Thoughts on Freedom, but in 2007 she teamed up with “Legal Eagle” to start a libertarian-leaning legal blog.
Austrolabe — This blog is run by Muslim libertarian Amir Butler and covers issues both religious and political.
Institutional Economics – Free-market economics blog run by CIS economist Stephen Kirchner.
Chris Berg – General-topic blog by Chris Berg, the editor of the IPA Review and occasional contributor to “Thoughts on Freedom”.
Jennifer Marohasy – A blog primarily dedicated to free-market environmentalism, and questioning the instictive socialism of the “deep green” movement. Jennifer is a researcher with the IPA.
PRODOS blog – Run by Australia’s most prominent objectivist, Melbourne-based PRODOS, this blog is a portal into his many projects.
Real-World Libertarian — This “right-libertarian” blog is run by Jim Fryar, who was a veteran of Australia’s first libertarian political party, “The Workers Party”.
Henry Thornton — Regular commentary and market analysis by free-market economist “Henry Thornton”. His website also including contributions from a range of other (libertarian and non-libertarian) authors.

Australian libertarian groups
Centre for Independent Studies – Perhaps Australia’s most successful think-tank, the CIS has been running for over 30 years promoting classical liberalism and small government. The CIS is Sydney based and is run by Greg Lindsay.
Institute of Public Affairs – Australia’s oldest think-tank, the IPA recently won the Atlas Foundation award for best free-market magazine (IPA Review). It is based in Melbourne and is run by John Roskam.
Quadrant – Wide-ranging magazine which often has a libertarian-leaning.
Mannkal Economic Education Foundation – Run by successful WA miner, Ron Manners, the Mannkal Foundation has been providing resources to the libertarian movement in Australia for decades.

Australian libertarian politics
Liberal Democratic Party – Australia’s only registered libertarian political party, the LDP was started in 2001 by John Humphreys and the current President is Peter Whelan. The party’s best result was 4.3% in the Gippsland by-election in 2007.
Shooters Party – NSW based single-issue party representing the rights of shooters, the party has two representatives in the NSW upper house.
Fishing Party – Single-issue party concerned about the rights of fishers, and opposed to the environmental approach of the Greens.
Non-Custodial Parents Party – NSW based single-issue party concerned about the rights of non-custodial parents in the face of a discriminatory family court system.
